10 days. 110 events. 650 musicians. 29,500 attendees!

Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis ended this year’s Glasgow Jazz Festival in style with a packed house at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Later on the Late Night Jazz Club at the Thistle Hotel was heaving as host Ryan Quigley was joined on stage by Dan Nimmer, Carlos Henriquez, Ali Jackson Jnr., Chris Crenshaw, Vincent Gardner, and Marcus Printup from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, as well as Jay Phelps, Mike Janisch, Suzanne Bonnar, Brian Molley, Robert Henderson, Tom MacNiven and many more. Glasgow Jazz Festival saw ten days of a wide range of music, from The Necks’ minimalism and the thrash-jazz of trioVD, to Scottish National Jazz Orchestra’s sublime performance of Duke Ellington’s “Such Sweet Thunder”. There were sell-out shows from Martin Taylor’s Spirit of Django to Brass Jaw, and audiences were on their feet after Ryan Quigley’s Big Band and the fantastic Dr Lonnie Smith. Critics’ favourites included Arun Ghosh Sextet and Phronesis, both up and coming bands on their first visit to Glasgow. We’re absolutely exhausted after an amazing festival, and would like to thank everyone involved in making our 24th year a huge success! Watch this space for dates and details of our 25th anniversary festival and celebrations!
